  • KBr Rectangles, XP-Polymer Coated Windows

Potassium bromide (KBr), XP-Polymer coated rectangles provide an excellent protection for fogging. This coating is recommended for use in prolonged high humidity environments or where proper storage facilities are not available. The XP-Polymer coating has IR spectral features which must be ratioed or subtracted from sample measurements.

  • KBr Rectangles, XP-Halide Coated Windows

Potassium bromide (KBr), XP-Halide coated rectangles provide a good protection for fogging. This coating is recommended for use in high humidity environments or where proper storage facilities are not available. The XP-Halide coating is relatively free of IR absorption features; however, care must be exercised in IR measurements.

  • KBr Rectangles

Potassium bromide (KBr) is the most commonly used material for commercial IR spectroscopy. It provides full coverage of the mid-IR spectral region and is a good refractive index match with most organic samples. Disadvantages of KBr include its water solubility and that it is prone to fogging.

  • KBr Disks, Wedged Window

Potassium bromide (KBr), wedged disks are recommended for applications where spectral fringing effects must be minimized. This issue generally occurs at high spectral resolution or when there is a significant mismatch of the refractive indices of sample and IR windows.
