Details:

Germanium (Ge) is a high refractive index material (4.0 @ 10 microns) which provides shallow depth of penetration useful in some ATR applications. It is relatively hard and resistant to most acid and basic samples. The long wavelength cutoff of Ge will limit spectral range for multiple reflection ATR crystals to about 700 cm-1 (depending upon pathlength). Coated versions of our Ge ATR crystals are available for improved IR throughput and enhanced seal within the ATR crystal plate.
